The century-old street is home to Wenmiao or Confucius Temple, which is urban Shanghai’s only place of Confucius worship. The old books fair on the temple’s square at weekend attracts a regular crowd of enthusiasts, which features, old books aside, old newspapers and photos-not very friendly to pockets.
Getting there: Take subway lines 8 and 10 to Laoximen station.
Attraction: Confucius Temple
A Confucius pilgrimage should include a walk through the Confucius Temple located at 215 Wenmiao Road. The central axial line of the complex was the route followed by ancient scholars coming here to pay tribute to the nation’s greatest teacher.
