Fuzhou Road

The main allure of the century-old street, which is a short dash from Nanjing Road in the north and the Bund in the east, lies in its pleasant scholarly ambience despite the surrounding hustle and hustle. In 1846, a stable of bookstores opened on the street, putting the street at the forefront of Shanghai’s academic pursuits. The opening of The Commercial Press in 1897 marks the rise of China’s modem publishing industry.

Attraction: Shanghai Book City
Shanghai Book City is one of cultural Shanghai’s ten landmarks. Opened in December of 1998, the first super-large hook retailer of Shanghai offers over 200,000 categories of books, video/audio products and e-publications produced by the country’s over 1000 publishers.
